Tips for better Boostlingo Calls
Audio calls should be possible with most internet connections. Video calls use a lot more bandwidth, so if you are having issues with the quality of your video calls, we recommend the following:
- Closing other applications or tabs that may be taking away bandwidth, especially if playing music or video.
- Canceling any file transfers in progress.
- Restricting internet usage on any other devices that may be connected to your Wi-Fi.
- Using an Ethernet connection when possible.
If this does not resolve your problem, you may need to increase your bandwidth. Contact your Internet Service Provider if you need more information regarding your download and upload speeds.
A note on cellular bandwidth
4G LTE connections/mobile hotspots are sufficient for most situations with an adequate connection to your LTE service provider; however, LTE quality is heavily influenced by your location and by the number of other users connected to the same cell tower. Interpreters should always rely on wired Internet service over LTE service for consistent network quality.
3G connections/mobile hotspots are not recommended, but may be sufficient for two-party calls when the 3G connection is not in use by other Internet applications and you have a strong connection to your 3G service provider.
