Calling An AI Interpreter

Steps in this section are described for web scenario, but same UI/UX is built in mobile apps as well.

  1. Log in to your requestor account in the InterpretManager Mobile app or Boostlingo web platform.
  2. In the caller, you will see “AI Interpreter” as a third communication option, alongside audio and video calls.

Starting a Call

  1. Click the AI Interpreter button to initiate a call.
  2. Select your desired languages from the Language To list.
    1. Note: This list will be filtered to only display AI-supported languages.
  3. Choose the Service Type from the available options configured for your account.
  4. Click Call.

During the Call

There are two modes in which use can use this feature:

or

Click-to-Speak Mode

  1. After initiating the call, you will see a brief “Connecting” screen followed by a recording announcement and interpreter greeting in both selected languages. Example: “This call may be recorded for quality assurance. Hi, I will be your AI interpreter for today.”

Note: You can interrupt the greeting by clicking the action bubble.

  2. Once the greeting ends, the app enters Idle State (white circle).
    1. Click the screen to start speaking.
    2. The caller will switch to Listening State (green circle) and detect audio input.
    3. Speak clearly in the selected languages.

3. Once you are done speaking, click Click to send to process your input.

4. The app will briefly show a Processing screen, then switch to the Speaking State (yellow circle), where the AI Interpreter provides the interpretation.

Always-Listening Mode (Default)

In 'Always Listening' mode, the app automatically detects pauses in your speech and starts interpreting without manual input. It will take about five seconds.

To enable Always-Listening Mode, click the gear icon during the call and select this option.

In Always Listening mode, the caller will light up green when it is detecting speech, yellow when it is actively providing interpretation, and white when it does not detect speech and has completed its interpretation.

Ending the Call

Click the End Call button at any point to disconnect.

Human Rollover

At any point during the call, the requestor has an option to rollover to a live interpreter.

  1. Click anywhere on the Rollover to Live Interpreter banner.

2. Confirm your selection in the resulting pop-up by entering feedback and clicking Rollover.

Once you have confirmed, the AI Interpreter session ends, and caller begins routing to live interpreters with the same language and service type selections. You will also see a pop-up prompting you to rate the AI interpretation session:

Note: If pre-call information was entered prior to the AI Interpreter call, data will be automatically transferred to the rollover call. No need to re-enter information.

Note: If you choose to rollover your AI call to a human interpreter, the status of the AI Interpreter call will show as 'Rollover' instead of 'Connected.'

You can filter call logs for those that were rolled over from an AI interpreter by selecting Type = AI and Call Status = Rollover.
