Overview
Boostlingo now supports French Canadian (français canadien) as a display language for Requestors and Requestor Admins. When you set your Display Language, the Boostlingo web application will switch to your preferred language immediately and remember your choice across sessions and devices. This setting controls the language of the application interface only — it does not affect the language of interpretation services.
Who can use this feature:
Requestors — can set their own Display Language
Requestor Admins — can set their own Display Language (editing another user's language preference is not available)
This feature is not available to LSP Admins, Interpreters, or users viewing another person's profile. It is also not currently available on the Boostlingo mobile app.
This feature must be enabled by your Boostlingo account team before it appears in your profile.
How to set your Display Language
Log in to the Boostlingo web application.
Click your name or profile icon in the top navigation to open your profile menu.
Select Edit Profile.
In the Edit Profile panel, scroll down to the Display Language field (located below Timezone).
Select your preferred language from the dropdown — English or French Canadian (français canadien).
Click Save.
The application will switch to your selected language immediately. No page reload is required.
Common questions
Q: I selected French Canadian but my page is still in English. What happened? A: French Canadian display must be enabled by your Boostlingo account team for your organization. If the option was available but the page hasn't changed, please contact Boostlingo Support and mention that you've selected French Canadian in your profile. Your preference has been saved and will activate once the feature is enabled.
Q: Does this change the language for my entire organization? A: No. Display Language is a personal setting — it only affects your own view. Other users in your organization are not impacted.
Q: Will dates, times, and number formats change to French Canadian format? A: No. This version changes the language of application labels and menus only. Date and time formats, and number formatting (such as decimal separators), will continue to follow your organization's locale setting.
Q: Why are some error messages still showing in English? A: A small number of system error messages have not yet been translated to French Canadian and will display in English temporarily. This is expected behavior at this time and will be resolved in an upcoming update.
Q: The French Canadian option is showing as "temporarily unavailable." What does that mean? A: This means you previously set French Canadian as your preference, but the option has been temporarily disabled. Your preference has been saved and will reactivate automatically when French Canadian is re-enabled. Your page will continue to show in English in the meantime.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Display Language field not visible in Edit Profile | Feature not yet enabled for your account, or you are editing another user's profile | Contact Boostlingo Support to confirm feature availability; confirm you are editing your own profile |
Selected French Canadian, page still shows English | Feature flags not yet enabled for your account/environment | Contact Support; preference is saved and will activate when enabled |
Language reverted to English after logging in on a new device | Expected behavior if feature is flag-gated off; otherwise a sync issue | Confirm French Canadian option is still selected in Edit Profile; if missing, re-select and save |
Some UI text still in English | Strings not yet translated (known gap at launch) | Expected — full translation coverage ships in a follow-on update |
Error messages appearing in English while UI is in French | Error message translations pending Crowdin | Expected at launch — will be resolved in upcoming content update |
Known limitations
French Canadian is available on the web application only — mobile app support is coming in a future release.
Some system error messages will display in English at launch. Full error translation is in progress.
Application-managed values (such as Service Types and custom fields configured by your organization) will continue to display in English.
Date, time, and number formats are not affected by this setting.
