Custom fields are fields created by admins that can be used across the Boostlingo platform in different policies. Here is a video walking through how to create a custom field as well as descriptions of what each field type looks like with written descriptions and pictures below:
Creating a Custom Field
Navigate to Configuration > Company > Customize > Custom Forms and Fields > Fields.
- Click the green Create Field button.
- In the pop-up box, select the field type. Each will require different information in order to be created. Required inputs are denoted by a red asterisk *:
- Once each required input has been completed, click the blue Create Field button. Now your field can be added to Pre-call, Appointment, Appointment: Training, Interpreter Profile, Requester Profile, and Account Profile policies!
Descriptions of each type of field
- Check Boxes
- Key Value-pair (single choice)
- Radio Buttons
- Select List (multiple choices)
- Select list (single choice)
- Text field (multi-line)
- Text field (single line)
Check Boxes:
- Users can select any number of options.
- Available on all forms and profile policies.
- Best for use when there may be reason to select more than one option and the number of options is less than five.
- Use case Example: Short list of certifications.
Key Value-pair (single choice):
- Only available for pre-call policies and only included in IVR call flow.
- The call will not be connected without a successful entry of a numeric key.
- Primarily used as an added layer of security & tracking when placing IVR calls
- Use case Example: agent ID (key) & agent name (value)
- Key entered can only support numeric data though values can include text.

Radio Buttons:
- Only one can be selected.
- Available on all forms and profile policies
- Best for use when there can only be one selection and the number of options is less than five.
- Use case Example: Shirt size.
Select List (multiple choices):
- Multiple answers can be selected.
- When the user starts typing an entry, the matching options will appear for selection.
- Available on all forms and profile policies.
- Best for use when there may be reason for more than one option to be selected and the number of options is five or greater.
- Use case Example: Large list of certifications
Select list (single choice):
- One answer can be selected
- When the user starts typing an entry the matching options will appear for selection.
- Available on all forms and profile policies
- Best for use when there can only be one selection and the number of options is five or more.
- Use case Example: Selecting your department from a long list of options
Text field (multi-line):
- A large block for free-entry text.
- Available on all forms and profile policies.
- For entering any text that is expected to be more than one line in length.
- Use case Example: About me section
Text field (single line):
- A short block for free-entry text.
- Available on all forms and profile policies.
- For entering text that is expected to be only a single line in length.
- Use case Example: Full Name
